Seizure #3

What a week…

Ryan had another febrile seizure on Wed the 14th. This is her 3rd one. She had one June of 2010, March of 2011 and now March 2012. This one happened at school. All of the staff at Willow Bend Learning Center did a great job. They called 911 at 10am, as I had directed after the last one in 2011, then called me and I was on my way. She was given a valum in the ambulance, which is a seizure prevention medicine. By the time I got to the hospital (they took her to Medical Center of Plano) Phillip was already there. Ms Roonu, the owner at the daycare, had followed the ambulance so that there was a familiar face when she got to the hospital.

As I arrived, Phillip was with her and it looked like she was still shivering. The daycare stated that she was in circle time and had started to shiver. At this point, she had her seizure. She was given Motrin at the hospital as well which slowly helped her fever come down.

As usual, they did a strep and flu test which came back negative. Her white blood count was good as well, which meant that she must have had a virus and they couldn’t give antibiotics.

We left the hospital at 1pm and went home. Phillip went back to work and I stayed with her at home. Ryan fell asleep as soon as we got home.

Phillip stayed with her on Thursday and took her to the Dr for a follow up. At that time, they took another swap and looked in her ears. The tests came back negative again and her ears were clear. Phillip mentioned to Dr Ashworth that we noticed that her lips were blue the very first seizure. I think he was just going over all of the situations to make sure that these were all caused by fevers. The Dr seemed a little concerned with the blue lips, so she ordered an EEG. This test will rule out all other reasons for seizures. It is scheduled for Tuesday March 20th. We will take her at nap time because they want her tired and possibly to sleep. This test is measured by putting stickers on her head that measure some kind of waves in her brain. We have gone over the procedure with Ryan and tried to explain it to her. We have said that they will put stickers on her head and hair and have pretty colored wire and string coming from the stickers. I have shown her some of the less scary pictures. Not that they are scary, but anyone would look weird with all those stickers and to a 3 year old it could scare her. But she seems to be ok with it…..we will see come tomorrow though!

This past weekend we spent time with her and then she spent the night with Pretty Granma and PawPaw Saturday night. She had a good time and did just fine. I was a basket case, but survived. I didn’t get to sleep till 2-3am, but slept in and tried to relax.

Sunday evening we went to Grammy’s surprise birthday party. (It was a combo party for her and Fritz) There were 50-60 people there and didn’t a picture with Grammy. We got one picture of Ryan in her new purple dress and that is about it.

At Grammy's surprise party.

Tea Time with daddy! Pretty Granma got Ryan this little set over the weekend. She wanted to pour her daddy his coffee.

This is how she rolls......
